Conversion accuracy and your files
Conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your original files are never uploaded and stay under your control. Different image formats support different things — color depth, transparency, animation, metadata, and layers — and converting between them can change or discard some of that information. For example, saving to a format without an alpha channel flattens transparency, and lossy formats re-compress the image. These are properties of the formats themselves, not defects in the tool.
Always keep your original files. We are not responsible for any loss of image quality, metadata, or data arising from a conversion, and we recommend verifying that a converted file meets your needs before discarding the original.
